The police may have ended the search for Sophia on Days of Our Lives, but that doesnât mean her story is anywhere close to over. Because Amy certainly is not giving up on her daughter â even if she is willing to accept that she may never see her again in this life!
After Sophiaâs service and memorial, Amy told her husband that her path forward has never been more clear. Sheâs going to make sure no other child has to go through the pain and the bullying that Sophia endured â by pressing manslaughter charges against Holly! Is she really going through with this?

Will anything get her to back down? Right now, probably not. Shi Ne Nielson spoke with the Dishinâ Days podcast about Amyâs grieving process and warned, âSheâs just not somebody who takes an âLâ easily. And sheâs definitely not done yet.â

She gets that Amy may be tough to like, âBut thereâs no question that she loves her daughter. She might not do it âright.â She might not do it the way people agree with, but she is a lion for her.â
And thatâs why Amyâs doing this. If Sophiaâs gone, she doesnât have a voice to fight for herself anymore, so her mom has to be that voice. Amy âwill protect her at all costs,â Nielson shared. âI think youâve got to respect that, whether you agree with her stance or not.â
And this stance isnât without precedent. In real life, parents have sued schools after bullying led to their child taking their own life. And theyâve won. This, though, is a bit different, after all that Holly endured at Sophiaâs hands. Plus, we could see EJ stepping in to defend Holly, either out of fondness for the teen he was stepdad to, or just out of pure spite against Sophia. And if that happens, he wonât play nice.
Of course, if this drags on long enough, we might start entertaining the thought that it could lead towards Hollyâs exit towards the end of the year when Ashley Puzemis stops airing. Thatâs if Holly exits with her portrayer!
In the end, as Nielson shared of her grieving character, âI think itâs hard for Amy to be that outward with her emotions, but once the pain and the sadness of whatâs happening overflow, thereâs nowhere else for it to go. Itâs got to come out somewhere.â
Right now, it looks like that âsomewhereâ is coalescing into anger towards one, specific person. Itâs the wrong person, of course, but that doesnât mean Amy wonât succeed in making her pay in court. Holly could very easily end up in jail for manslaughter before the truth comes out about what really happened.
